Advantages of Working with a Qualified Mortgage Broker
July 1st, 2008 2:30 AM

Today people have many options when searching for a mortgage for their home. First you have, what I call the order takers – internet websites, cold calling or radio advertising solicitors, and mortgage representatives at retail banks fall in this category. Most order takers are part of a system that is built to originate volume, period. To them you are just another number on their list of “hot leads”. You’ll hear from them once. And if they are fortunate to close your loan with little or no surprises at the signing table, you will never hear from them again. Who is left to manage your most debt?

This is where qualified mortgage brokers fit in. Mortgage brokers offer distinct advantages to their clients. They tend to give a lot of emphasis on building and sustaining lasting relationships with their customers. Most mortgage brokers tend to be self employed, i.e., they are not working for a salary at a bank or a call center. The incentive to build a close relationship with their customer is paramount for a majority of mortgage brokers as a source of continued referrals from a successful relationship. The prospect of a lasting and financially rewarding relationship with their clients motivates most mortgage brokers to go the extra yard to make their clients satisfied.

The best part is that experienced originators have access to major and niche lenders. This allows them to research the lowest rate mortgage for you. Second, if rates experience a drop over a period of time, they can usually secure the lower rate for you. This allows them to effectively manage your mortgage over time.

Lastly, most professional mortgage brokers put a high emphasis on continuing education and certifications to become knowledge experts as a means to serving the knowledge needs of their clients and provide continued value add.

It is highly advised to interview your mortgage broker before you hire them to put together perhaps your largest debt. View article "Interviewing Your Mortgage Advisor".
